In the cut ""Sparks
Fly Upward" , one perceives an almost Native American rhythmic quality
in the intro. Followed by a vibrant melodic electric free form guitar
signature , that riffs above & below the root foundation. Atonal at times
, yet reverting back to it's main theme , making for a driving electronic
pulse that takes on a majestic air The title track
of "Phenomenon" in it's acoustic format augmented by digital delay , hearkens
back to the works of Robert Fripp & early King Crimson via Larks Toungues
In Aspic & the latter Discipline period In a sonic shift
to a more metallic & atonal side , "Black Hole" exudes the avant garde
quality that at times permeates Sparky Quano's work The flip side
of the hard core , is showcased in the 'Pigs Might Fly" project. Its acoustic
guitar based forays are more introspective & melodically ethereal in construction
Sparky Quano
has a singular vision which is intrinsic to his material ; His progressive
nature expands upon this musical base & leaves one guessing where his
next audio journey will lead us to Sparky's deliberate
Low-Fi approach would nicely fit into an enhanced future direction. But
who could say if the production could contain his unorthodox ideas , except
Sparky Quano himself… |
