“On The Way”
is a smooth piece of work. A post-Modern Retro charisma, awakens the senses.
A tip of the hat to Britain's Mind-Benders. It sure would be nice if a
fellow like Tom Jones would sing a song such as this. Tom Jones ? Yea…Tom
Jones & Elvis Costello, to be sure “Don’t Kill The
Mood”, brings the tempo down to mid-tone temper, amidst a tip of the tongue
& a wink “Mid Afternoon”
rolls along an effortless path, via clavinet & sonic-smooth-smoke. Nice
groove, gentlemen. The Funk is in the house… “Imposter” sneaks
out of the gate on the subterranean train ride. A nuance of melancholy
& resolve, wash over the water color sound-painting. A dash of Synthesized
Strings add to the moment In the tune
“Keeps Coming Back”, we witness a layed back flow of the audio-fluid.
Irony fills the cracks in the sidewalk, as a perceptive view of the scene
plays out “The Count”introduces
a time signature change, coupled with an idiosyncratic Vox. A trademark
of the Burning Effigies Sometimes letting
things go, proves a bit easier than one might suspect. Who hasn’t been
through that cycle of love before. Or lust for that matter Burning Effigies
approximate some really timeless, classic musical moves. One might day
dream on the flying carpet of fellows like Curtis Mayfield & Marvin Gaye
But ultimately,
the Burning Effigies have a style & swagger all their own. Their muse
is very magnetic & moody in a nice way. The band is hard to define to
some extent ; Simply because that have the originality to let their hair
down so to speak Sit back in your
recliner & pop the headphones on & close your eyes. Then your ears will
survey the scenario of sonic-sight, which can bring delight upon repeated
listening People most likely
will experience an individualized concept of where the Burning Effigies
are coming from They certainly
are on a path & direction the exudes ambiance & an ethereal sound, in
the pocket of course They have the
groove in hand with the attitude. Besides, you know that smoke exists,
behind the musical fire & you shouldn’t want to miss the train whilst
checking the smooth Funk |
