TAAQ's latest
work of splendor is called "Jupiter Cafe" & there is not a mediocre cut
on the album. An audio journey through life that reaches out to the heart
& soul in its relentless pursuit of the infinite ; Thermal & A Quarter
combine hybrid forms of musical textures from Alternative , Rock , Blues
, Funk , Jazz & Pop streams of consciousness "Brigade Street"
has a funk/rock undertow with a strong melodic vocal full of panache ;
Whereas "Wishing For Magic" unveils a bluesy mid tempo reflective vibe
, somewhere between Blood Sweat & Tears & the Rolling Stones "Respectable"
holds a touch of retro Canned Heat meets Chicago , but with more balls
than both the former & latter. The Vocals at times remind one of the Guess
Who's Burton Cummings among others "Look At Me"
recedes a tad into an introspective look into eastern cliches with a decidedly
post modern & self deprecating attitude that mocks trtaditional stereotypes
; Segue to "Getting There" & we witness a slice of social commentary on
motives of inspiration , with some inventive time signature shifts "Drunk" is such
a joyous , celebratory & wonderfully bombastic dollop of pure rhythmic
rock & roll genius ; If only more bands had the abilities to play such
irreverent & endearing tunes , the rock world would not suffer from repetitive
, vapid & banal fare & generate healthier sales , instead of regurgitating
worn out cliches "Sanity In Gravity"
has a wide open driving down the road feel , with an outlook in it's ironic
perspective of existence in a three dimensional time continuum & the souls
that we meet along the way "Without Wings"
exudes some multiple harmonic Vox flow , replete with sleek electric guitar
& a progressive vibe that is refreshing & challenging "State Of Mine"
with it's harmonious double vocals , is a song in a state of brilliance.
It's in our humble opinion , one of the best tunes on the whole glorious
album. Plus , there are so many strong cuts on Jupiter Cafe anyway , that
it becomes a mute point Listening to
Thermal & A Quarter is quite simply , an enthralling & engrossingly enjoyable
experience for the audiophile. TAAQ's originality & spirit , mirror a
visceral & sincere effort of impressive creativity & performance chops
of spunk & bite ; Coupled with a lyrical magic of intrigue & insight.
TAAQ's trademark Vocal stylings are superior in intention & emote a gutsy
swagger all their own Thermal & A Quarter
will definitely take the listener on a trip around the sound cosmos. Grab
TAAQ & give them a spin ; You'll not be in the least bit disappointed.

Thermal
& A Quarter are a stellar ensemble of intergalactic proportions from India.
This band consistently performs a gutsy & diverse brand of rock that defies
description. The multi-elemental roots of TAAQ are a great example of
musical breadth & composition , that creates a group personality & lyrical
verve that is wondrous & inspiring in it's scope & emotional strength
