Into a never
ending flow of water that runs deep into the sonic heart, Nancy melds
Folk, Pop, AAA & other genre elements ; This lends a cadence to her music
that is impossible to classify or critic' The album “Clear
View” , explores sublime divinity in compositional smarts. From the opening
bar , one is immediately entranced by her original , descriptive & rich
voice. Lyrically & emotionally subtle & complex simultaneously Virtually every
track on the “Clear View” project , stands out in itself. In a tune like
“Stay” for instance , one might find this song at home on a work like
the Beatles “White Album” Other songs like
“Blindsided” with it’s shimmering electric guitar work & “Sometimes You
Jump” with it’s delightful French Horn counterpoint , shine forth like
an audio diary. While you are “reading” Nancy’s music , you also find
that her work has a cinematic quality to it that would easily melt into
a movie soundtrack In “Eraser”
the mood becomes even more intimate & flickers like a blue flame in the
wind. A chillingly warm song replete with bowed cello overtones “Under The Sun”
is an intriguing alternative & progressive cut , married with a Lesley
rotating speaker effect on Nancy’s Vox. A band like Tears For Fears would
do well with a song of this caliber “Sleepwalk” casts
a cool sheen with a telling nod toward the entertainment business. A tune
of irony & sly social commentary that reflects more truth than many would
want to admit “Minute” showcases
the versatile range of Nancy Falkow’s trademark Vocals & flashes a
drop of Phoebe Snow ; Whereas in “Sleeping East” one is treated to a contemporary
saunter & shuffle of world weariness married to a smooth Jazzy-Rock flair
The acoustic
piano inflected ballad “Where Do I Start” is another shining example of
the strength & diversity of composition that is an innate characteristic
of Nancy Falkow’s muse The acoustic
tinged tunes on “Smitten” exude a touch of Jazz, a dollop of Blues & a
splash of Roots that point to the Emerald Isle. Echos of Nora Jones ,
Lisa Loeb & Sarah McLachlan permeate the audio air. But these influences
are cleary jump off points for an artist like Nancy Falkow The next plateau for Nancy Falkow , has us looking skywards to the stars. Journeying back home to Ireland at this juncture in her career , will no doubt infuse the artist with a charismatic musical direction that is dynamically unstoppable. Because Nancy
Falkow’s work gets better & better at every turn of the enigmatic moonlit
canopy of night & rises like the sun into a new day |
