"Four Hours" has some
tasteful Electric 12 String Guitar Arpeggio, to go along with Mr. Macdonald's
smooth as silk Vocals. A fond tip of the hat to Brian Wilson "Stay With You" opens
with a dash of Acoustic Guitar & James' trademark Vox profundity. To mention
Neil Finn & his Crowded House, would not be too far off the mark ; A tip
of the hat to Sir Paul McCartney, while we're at it Do we lie sir…No. No
sir. Just have a listen. James Macdonald has a gift of compositional strength
to add to his sublime articulation. In other words, the man has a great
set of pipes "Here We Stand", really
has us on the move to describe the festivities. Throw some Hawaiian Guitar
into the atmosphere, or Steel Lap Guitar if you choose & stand back. Listen
to this guy truly sing a song James Macdonald really
does knock our collective socks off. A tip of the hat to Roy Orbison.
Godspeed… "See Me Now" is like,
wow. The 12-String thing is going to nail us every time. Additionally,
when Mr. Macdonald's arrangement lends itself to double harmony Vocals,
we're essentially hooked. The Pizzicati Strings doing their things, just
makes the experience that much more heavenly. But, what do we know anyway… In the cut "Say Goodbye",
we don't want to, James. A tip of the hat to American singer Chris Issac.
However, please understand that James Macdonald sounds like no other than
he. A distinct originality vexes the senses with delight In "Couldn't't Just
Tell You" , we hear a flash of Power Pop & take the ride right up into
the deep blue sky. At this point, A tip of the hat to American's T. Rundgren,
Marshall Crenshaw & Cheap Trick. James can Rock, no doubt about it A diversion into the
land of balladry, finds "Believe In You". A reflection of a band like
America's Styx ; Without the pomposity, just altruistic zeal. Which is
real. For the Feel As for "Sitting In
The Sun" , runs a line that we had hoped for a long while back ; Where
is Billy J. Kramer when you need him ? Actually, we saw him the other
night on the telly. It wasn't very pretty either Thank the musical Gods
for a gentleman like James Macdonald, It takes a lot of humility to be
this good & not have an ego about it We perceive James Macdonald
to be a man of character, whilst maintaining the aura of a romantic at
heart For that, we are extremely
grateful to hear the music. In its own way, the muse is majestic in scope.
One might feel highly invigorated to come to the realization, that there
are still talented artists, composers & singers of such high caliber Do yourself a favor
& catch Mr. Macdonald in the act |
